About

About Me

When I was four years old I asked my dad why God would put the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil in the garden if He didn't want our first parents to eat of it. I have been on a quest for answers ever since.

At a young age I fell in love with reading. I also had a passion for telling stories, and, after reading one inferior novel which I shall not name, I decided that aspirations of being a writer were within my grasp. I  received a B.A. in English from the University of Kentucky in 2003.

Several years out of college, I finally surrendered to God's call to ministry, and began pursuing a M.Div from Asbury Theological Seminary. I am currently the associate minister at Connersville Christian Church in Cynthiana, Kentucky, and I live in Georgetown along with my wife, two daughters, and infant son...and many, many books.

The Mission

The mind is a terrible thing to waste. Unfortunately, many Christians are doing just that. In the Gospels Jesus says that the greatest commandment is to "Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind" (Matt. 22:37, Luke 10:27). If Christians are to take this commandment seriously, then we need to cultivate our minds for God. Here at The Christian Intellect, my goal is spur you to think richly and deeply about the Christian faith, the Bible, science, our culture, and our own lives, as well as give you some tools to help you in your journey.

I would encourage you to check out the first article I posted  on this site. It will tell you more about why I think that it is important to think about our faith. If you like what you find here, please subscribe on the home page. You can also find me @pastornickjones on Twitter.
